We are looking for two self-motivated postdocs with a strong interest in working in a flagship multidisciplinary project between Erasmus MC and TU Delft on the topic of the "digital twin", supported by the Convergence initiative. A Digital Twin in the medical setting captures all medical-related life-course information about a patient, such as genomic information, medical imaging, medical records, and treatment outcome information, but also social and economic information. In this project Erasmus MC and TU Delft join forces and aim to develop new data analysis methods using statistics and machine learning exploiting the life-course characteristics of this Digital Twin data. The goal will be to extract the most useful information from all available data sources and facilitate medical decision making. The platform of our developments will be the roadmaps of two patient journeys, one in the context of a pregnancy complicated by a cardio-vascular disease, and one in the context of cancer that will require carefully planning of invasive procedures.

The Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam (Erasmus MC) and the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) have a vacancy for two post-Doctoral positions in the fields of Data Analytics and Decision Making. In this project Erasmus MC and TU Delft join forces and aim to develop new data analysis methods using statistics and machine learning exploiting the life-course characteristics of medical data. Qualification and skills for both postdocs:

  • Strong methodological background and preferably hold a PhD degree in Statistics/Biostatistics, Machine Learning or a related field.
  • Knowledge of longitudinal and survival analysis, Bayesian statistics, and a strong computational background will be considered a plus.

Expectations 

The postdocs should have a deep interest in the convergence of health sciences, physical sciences, and engineering to foster individual health and keep the healthcare system sustainable. They will work closely with the supervisors, Principal investigators and Collaborating investigators of the project to conduct high calibre research. They are also encouraged to initiate and lead collaborative work with other postdocs within the Convergence for health(care) initiative. Salary will be commensurate with qualification and experience.
