We are looking for two self-motivated postdocs with a strong interest in working in a flagship multidisciplinary project between Erasmus MC and TU Delft, supported by the Convergence initiative. This project enables early diagnosis and effective intervention for patients with ischemic stroke due to intracranial large vessel occlusions. We aim to increase the number of patients reaching functional independence. Currently, no smart tools are available that allow for early, non-invasive diagnosis, as well as fast, safe, and effective thrombus removal. We intend to fill this gap. Two instruments in the project are to be developed in the collaborative work packages. The first post doc will develop a tool for measuring pulsatile intracranial blood flow for early diagnosis of ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion is developed. It then should be evaluated for the specificity and sensitivity for the diagnosis. The work in the project is multi-disciplinary and you will work in close collaboration with physicists, engineers, clinicians from TU Delft, Erasmus MC and our partner ICFO in Barcelona. The second post doc will develop an OCT image-guided treatment strategy for visualisation of interaction between retrieval device and thrombus and for optimal thrombus removal, to enable rapid cerebral reperfusion. The work in the project is multi-disciplinary and you will work in close collaboration with physicists, engineers, clinicians from TU Delft and Erasmus MC.
